The Information Age Has a Dark Side: Advice Overload

We are drowning in advice. If we don’t have an idea or answer, we can find and follow everyone else’s. As a result, it’s never been easier to be average. But what does it take to be exceptional? We have to find and follow what makes us an exception. Instead of the conventional thinking, it’s time to think for ourselves. It’s Unthinkable.

Powerful Stories of People Questioning Convention & Simple Models for Making Intuition a Practical Tool

Stories from think-for-yourselfers at organizations like TED, Disney, Slack, Google, Merriam-Webster, CreativeLive, First Round Capital, Dollar Shave Club, the U.S. Marines, and PostSecret, plus many more makers and doers who use their intuition as an unfair advantage.

 About Jay Acunzo

Jay Acunzo is an award-winning podcaster and dynamic keynote speaker. Before creating the popular show Unthinkable, Jay was a digital media strategist at Google and head of content at HubSpot. He’s built content marketing strategies from scratch for startups and produced attention-grabbing documentaries for brands. His work has been cited in places ranging from Harvard Business School to the Washington Post.

Today, Jay hosts shows and works with teams who aspire to be the exceptions to all the noise in their niche.

MY MISSION: Help you trust your intuition so you can realize your full potential more quickly.

In the Information Age, we can instantly access everyone else’s advice, and this is changing how we operate. Because we can jump straight to an answer, we’re losing our ability to sit with our questions, to consider new possibilities, and to find an original path forward — regardless of the convention.

But what if we all possessed a tool to help us think for ourselves? What if that tool could help us realize our full potential more quickly than obeying the guru? I mean, if that were true, SHOULDN’T WE BE USING THAT TOOL?! Shouldn’t we try to understand how to develop it and wield it like the greatest weapon we possess?

THAT is intuition. It’s not gut feel. It’s not the Muse. In a world overrun with experts, it’s the process of thinking for yourself. It’s a simple formula that we’ve uncovered that we can use to realize our potential at an ever-increasing rate to the point that others will look at your work and conclude:

It’s Unthinkable.

The mission of Unthinkable is to inspire and empower you to be the exception to the conventional wisdom.

The world does not need another list article. Nobody is eagerly awaiting the next Ultimate Guide PDF. And for the love of God, can marketers spend less time on getting people to share stuff and more on making stuff actually worth sharing?

Yes, content marketing’s cup runeth over with all that crap. Some of it can be rather useful. Most of it is hopelessly, painfully mediocre. And missing from all the advice and hacks and gaming of systems is the reason you do the job in the first place: CREATING. GREAT. CONTENT.

It’s time to be an exception to the conventional wisdom. Are you ready to do the Unthinkable?

About Jay Acunzo

Jay is an award-winning podcaster, dynamic keynote speaker, and a guy bothered by conventional thinking.

While at Google, he worked as a digital media strategist, which taught him how to use today’s rate of change to your advantage, and how repeating the tried-and-true often leads to stale work. After working for multiple online startups, including HubSpot as head of content, Jay developed a passion for finding ways to use your own personality and aspirations to positively affect your results. And today, as the creator of several web series about the meaning of work, including his weekly show Unthinkable, Jay spends his time studying how conventional thinking forms and sharing stories of the people who dare to question it.

Over the past decade, Jay’s built content strategies from scratch for tech companies, produced attention-grabbing series for publishers and challenger brands, and even helped scale a venture capital firm through narrative podcasting. His work has been cited in courses at Harvard Business School, by writers at the Washington Post, Fast Company, and Forbes, and by investors on TV’s Shark Tank. Today, Jay hosts shows and works with teams who aspire to be the exceptions to all the conventional thinking in their niche.

 Hi. I’m Jay Acunzo.

I’m obsessed with the c-word in content marketing–so much so that my password for stuff is actually “CreateContent247.”
In my career, I’ve worked for Google in digital media and for several tech startups as head of content. Today, I’m the VP of platform at NextView, a VC firm that works with more than 60 startups, and co-founder of Boston Content, the largest community of content creators in the northeastern US.

I write regularly on my personal blog, Sorry for Marketing, which I’m just realizing probably needs a new password now. My writing and podcasting are popular among digital marketers and parents with the last name Acunzo, and I’m a frequent speaker, some of which even happens on stages.

If nothing else, know this: I am trying my very hardest to make Unthinkable something that you find both nutritious and delicious.
