It’s time to focus on the “content” word in content marketing.

It’s never been easier to be average. Millions of hacks, cheats, and “best practices” tell us exactly how to market. But in that world, some people believe in breaking from convention. Some people hone and trust their intuition to move forward instead of look backwards. Some people aspire to be more creative and do the exceptional — people like you.
WELCOME TO UNTHINKABLE.

 Hi. I’m Jay Acunzo.

I’m obsessed with the c-word in content marketing–so much so that my password for stuff is actually “CreateContent247.”
In my career, I’ve worked for Google in digital media and for several tech startups as head of content. Today, I’m the VP of platform at NextView, a VC firm that works with more than 60 startups, and co-founder of Boston Content, the largest community of content creators in the northeastern US.

I write regularly on my personal blog, Sorry for Marketing, which I’m just realizing probably needs a new password now. My writing and podcasting are popular among digital marketers and parents with the last name Acunzo, and I’m a frequent speaker, some of which even happens on stages.

If nothing else, know this: I am trying my very hardest to make Unthinkable something that you find both nutritious and delicious.

Nobody has ever “best practiced” their way to creating something extraordinary.

It turns out that exceptional content marketers don’t follow the best practice — they craft their own. You see, the very best among us embrace one truth about being a content creator that others often overlook or distrust: More than ever, the individual maker matters. To do anything exceptional, you have to be an exception, and the good news is, we each are. The bad news is, not everyone trusts that.

Together, let’s aspire to make more meaningful, more resonant content and transform our companies and our careers. On this journey, we seek no absolute answers to follow. Instead, we want to know how to better follow our intuition in our own specific contexts — because that’s the most powerful creative weapon we can wield.

Are you ready to do the Unthinkable?

The mission of Unthinkable is to inspire and empower people just like you: craft-driven creators.

You arrived to this industry to create things you love and others love too, but you’re surrounded by an industry obsessed with hacks, shortcuts, and cheap tricks. And while everyone seems to agonize over how to market content well, you think it’s just a little bizarre that more people aren’t agonizing over how to, oh I dunno, create content well. I mean what the actual heck is happening here?
Are you crazy?

No. (Maybe.) But one thing’s for sure: Somewhere along your journey, being creative turned into simply creating.

I feel your pain. But now it’s our time. And it starts right now.

an award-winning podcaster, dynamic keynote speaker, and a guy bothered by conventional thinking blocking the creativity and potential of teams and brands. His writing has been cited in places ranging from Harvard Business School curriculums to the marketing fof TV’s Shark Tank. Today, when he’s not hosting his weekly show, he’s traveling the world speaking and daydreaming about a world where builders and long term thinkers use their creativity to break from convention and unlock more success for their careers and companies.
