One of the best cloud storage services is Google Drive, which lets users view their files from almost any device, anywhere in the world. But sometimes it won’t start and show the message “Google Drive refused to connect” or “drive.google.com refused to connect.”

If you use any of the Google Office apps (like Docs, Sheets, or Slides) with more than one Google account, this mistake might happen. We can help you if you are having this kind of trouble. Here is a quick, step-by-step guide on how to fix this Google Drive connection problem.

Using incognito mode

As was already said, one reason this error keeps happening is that you have multiple Google accounts linked to your computer. Accessing Google Drive through your browser’s “incognito” window is a quick way to fix the problem. Keep in mind that this will only work for a short time. When you close the anonymous window, you will no longer be logged in with your Google account.

Step 1: Open Chrome and then open a window that doesn’t show your history. It’s generally in the top right corner, in the three-dot menu.

Step 4: “Drive refusing to connect error” should be fixed.

Log out of multiple Google accounts

If you can’t connect to Google Drive, you can also log out of any accounts you may have been logged into from your computer. Because you can only use Google Drive with one account at a time, this generally helps settle any arguments. This is how you do it.

Step 1: Open Chrome and type drive.google.com into the search bar to open Google Drive.

Step 2: Click on the personal picture in the upper right corner to see all of your synced accounts.

Step 3: Click the “Sign out of all accounts” button.

Step 4: You should see a prompt to check what you did. To avoid being logged in again, click Continue.

Step 5: Once all of your accounts are logged out, open Google Drive again and sign in with the Google account that was having trouble. Now you should be able to get to your Drive.

Clear your browser’s cookies and cache.

You could also clear your browser’s cookies and history. These temporary files are kept on your computer to make web pages run faster and work better for you. Sometimes, or whenever you’re having trouble reading, it’s a good idea to clean these. This is how you clear Chrome’s cache and cookies. These steps will help you clear your browser’s cache if you use a different one.

Step 1: Open Google Chrome and click the three dots in the top right corner of the window.

Step 2: From the drop-down menu, click on Settings.
