In the world of technology, things are constantly changing, and operating systems are no different. Windows 11 may have made you want to upgrade because of its sleek design and better features. Still, there are many reasons you should go back to your old OS or look into other options after making a change. In this guide, we will show you how to remove Windows 11.
We can help you if you need help with compatibility. You could instead use an older version of Windows or think that the system that used to be the best has become the worst.
There may be some things that need to be done before we can start. Ten days from the time of installation, you have to remove Windows 11 and keep your files. After that amount of time, you will need to do what is called a “clean install” of either Windows 10 or your oldest operating system. For both ways, we will give you step-by-step instructions to make sure you have all the information you need to move forward.
Do you want to get rid of Windows 11 or keep it? Please read our guide to the difference between Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Rollback to Windows 10 and keep your files
Switching back to Windows 10 is the easiest way to get rid of Windows 11. With this method, you won’t lose any of your files. One important thing to keep in mind, though: you must start this process within ten days of the first Windows 11 update. If you need to do something within this time window, please follow the steps below. If you still need to, you can move on to the next part.
Step 1: Pressing Windows + I opens the settings menu in Windows 11.
Step 2: Click Windows Update on the left.
Step 3: Click on Advanced Choices in the middle of the screen.
Step 4: Click “Recovery” and then “Go Back.”
Step 5: If you’re using a laptop, connect it to a power source and then follow the on-screen instructions.
No longer will your PC be on Windows 11 after a few restarts. It will be back to Windows 10. This keeps everything the same and is the safest and fastest way to return to Windows 10. Of course, you won’t lose any of your files or documents, but any apps you added in Windows 11 will be gone.
Install Windows 10 via an ISO and delete your files.
An ISO file can be used as an alternative way to remove Windows 11 and back to Windows 10. If you’ve gone over the 10-day rollback limit, you have to use it this way. However, all of your files and programmes will be lost, so you’ll have to start over.
Before you go any further, you should definitely save your files to an external drive so that you can still view them after you uninstall Windows 11. After you have backed up your files safely, you can follow the steps below.
Step 1: Go to Microsoft’s website and get the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool.
Step 2: Run the tool on your Windows 11 computer and agree to Microsoft’s terms of service.
Step 3: Pick “Make installation media for another PC” and click “Next.” Then click “Next” again.
Step 4: Pick an ISO file and click “Next.”
Step 5: Choose an area to save the file. I am pleased with the desktop.
Step 6: Let Windows 10 download.
Step 7: Click “Finish,” and then find the ISO file where you saved it.
Step 8: Double-click the ISO file to open it. Please pick up the Setup icon and click it. Then, to go back to Windows 10, follow the on-screen directions.
It is essential to evaluate Windows 11 carefully during the first ten days to see if you are happy with the operating system. Using an ISO file is the only way to remove Windows 11 and go back to Windows 10 after the 10-day grace time has passed. In order for this to work, you’ll have to wipe all of your personal files and applications and reinstall Windows 10 from the beginning. Evaluating at the right time is critical to avoiding this.
