Some people like Apple’s iMessage less than other great texting apps, but as a default app, it’s trendy and might even be one of the best Mac apps. It requires some effort to make the software run on devices other than Apple products, though. To get iMessage to function on Windows, though, you’ll need to know a few methods. The best way to make it.
The Phone Link Method for Using iMessage on Windows
With the Phone Link app, you can connect your iPhone to Windows. This lets you quickly enter iMessage from your PC. Remember that the messages you sent on your iPhone before you set up Phone Link will not be sent to your PC. After you connect your iPhone to Windows, only the texts you sent from your PC will show up. Also, the first texts from people who send them for the first time won’t sync.
Step 1: To use the Phone Link app with Windows, you need iOS 14 or later and the most recent version of Windows 11. If you need to, update your iPhone and Windows to the most recent versions.
Step 2: Search for “Phone Link” in Windows Search and click on the app that comes up to open it. If you can’t find it, you can download the app here by hand.
Step 3: When asked, pick an iPhone from the list of choices.
Step 4: To connect your phone over Bluetooth, follow the steps shown on the screen. Your PC needs to have Bluetooth turned on. After that, you’ll need to scan the QR code with both devices to connect them.
Step 5: Point the camera on your iPhone at the QR code on your PC and read it. When you get to that screen on your iPhone, choose Open on the screen that says “Pair your devices.” Then, in your iPhone’s Bluetooth settings, let the app use your phone. Choose to Go On.
Step 6: Your PC will ask you to connect your iPhone to it. Accept the prompt, and make sure that the PIN shown on both devices is the same. Pick “Yes”
Step 7: Click Continue on your PC. Go to your iPhone to add the last few choices that are needed. To sync your contacts, you’ll need to Allow access to alerts and share system notifications.
Step 8: Once the setup is done, the Phone Link app should show a copy of your iPhone. You should be able to see messages, calls, and friends, making it easy to use iMessage on Windows.
The Mac OS X method for using iMessage on a Windows computer
Chrome Remote Desktop is another way to get iMessage on Windows. That being said, you’ll need to set up your iPhone and Mac first.
Step 1: On your iPhone, open the Settings app and choose your Apple ID. After that, choose Choose iCloud.
Step 2: If it’s not already, turn Messages green to make sure it’s using iCloud.
Step 3: Go to your MacBook and open the Messages app. After that, use your Apple ID and password to log in. If you have two-factor security turned on, enter your verification code when asked.
Step 4: Choose Messages and then Settings from the app’s menu bar.
Step 5: When the iMessage tab appears, click on it.
Step 6: Turn on your iCloud account and messages if you need to.
Step 7: For Windows users using iMessage, verify that the email and phone number you intend to use are active.
Step 8: Pick where you want new talks to begin, then press the “Sync Now” button.
Step 9: We need to set up Chrome Remote Desktop now that iMessage works.
Get the Chrome browser from the Chrome website and then install the app.
Step 10: You should launch Chrome and sign in using the Google account you currently have (or create a new Google account if you do not already have one).
Step 11: Simply go to Chrome Remote Desktop and choose “Share this screen.” Then, under “Share this screen,” click the blue “Download” button. After that, choose “Add to Chrome” from the pop-up menu. Open Chrome Remote Desktop. Permit access to settings upon request.
Step 12: If you want to use iMessage on Windows, your Mac needs to be on. To keep it awake, go to System Preferences > Energy Saver and tell your Mac not to sleep when the screen is off. On the other hand, you can turn on the Mac while using iMessage and let it sleep when not in use.
Step 13: If you still need to get Chrome on your Windows PC or laptop, download it from the official website and sign in with your account. If you don’t have an account, you can make one.
Step 14: After that, hit “Add to Chrome” on the Chrome Remote Desktop extension’s page. When you do this, the extension will be installed in your Chrome browser.
Step 15: Go to the Chrome Remote Desktop web app on your MacBook and choose Share this screen > + Generate Code.
Step 16: Go to the Chrome Remote Desktop web app on your Windows PC and click on Share this screen. Then, under “Connect to another computer,” type in the Code that your MacBook gave you.
Step 17: Allow the links on your MacBook when asked.
Step 18: If you did everything right, the screen from your Mac should now be live on your Windows PC. After that, you can use your streamed MacBook to open the iMessage app.
That’s all there was to using iMessage on Windows. Even though the Phone Link app is the simplest way to do it, you might need help to see all of your iPhone’s iMessages on your PC. You’ll only be able to see the ones you made on your PC. Even so, if you don’t mind that caveat, it’s an excellent way to text from your PC to your iPhone. Chrome Remote Desktop is another option, although it requires a Mac, to view iMessage in its entirety. Another alternative, the Intel Unison app, requires extensive configuration, in contrast to the native phone software, Phone Link.
