There are numerous issues that social workers are continuously confronting as the year 2022 approaches. There are many social issues discussed as a part of education for the students in a college or a university. Many people may believe that there are still more issues to come. The COVID-19 pandemic has sparked a historic economic collapse, with millions of people losing their jobs, while Black Lives Matter rallies have renewed debates about institutional racism, injustice, and police reform. Long-term challenges such as food hunger and climate justice are continuing, in contrast to the issues that consume the headlines. The list of issues in society, around the world in 2021 can be daunting as discussed in several essay examples.

Religion Discrimination

Religious discrimination is when someone or a group of people is treated unfairly because of their religious views. This is one of the most talked-about topics in social issues essay. This covers situations in which followers of various religions, factions, or non-religions are treated unfairly as a result of their beliefs, whether by the government or in institutional settings including jobs or housing.

Religious prejudice is linked to religious persecution, the most severe forms of which include cases when people have been executed for holding beliefs that were deemed heretical. Mild types of religious oppression or religious discrimination are laws that only entail minor penalties.

Gender Identity

Those who are intersex or are classified as a third gender experience a lot of persecution and contempt from their family, friends, and the wider public in society. Individuals who identify as intersex or third gender confront several challenges in their daily lives. Intersex people are frequently marginalised by society. They are frequently mocked, laughed at, and heckled. This decreases their self-esteem and puts them at risk of committing suicide. Intersex people are frequently sexually assaulted in relationships, or they are mistreated as children. Intersex people are subjected to a lot of sexual abuse. They are mistreated at school, at home, and in prison. Intersex people are frequently exposed to torture from other people in society. Access to higher education, reproductive health care, and government programs is constrained.

Healthcare Availability

Societal determinants of health are a term used to describe the social problems in healthcare. The conditions of where individuals live, work, learn, and play are referred to as social determinants of health. The distribution of wealth, manpower, and power at the world, national, and regional levels has resulted in these scenarios. Social factors are frequently blamed for systemic health disparities. The ability to visit a doctor or other healthcare practitioner on a regular and timely basis to attain optimal personal health is defined as having access to medical care. This necessitates that a person acquires access to the healthcare system, that clinicians are close by, and that those providers are culturally and psychologically compatible with the person. All of these societal variables can make it difficult for someone to get medical help.

Hunger and Poverty

More than 750 million people live in severe poverty around the world, with daily incomes of less than $1.90 per person, a sum that is insufficient to support a healthy lifestyle in any corner of the earth. It falls at the top of the social issue examples. Approximately 104 million children under the age of five are projected to be living in extreme poverty, with that number rising to 328 million for children under the age of 18.

When a family is poor, the children suffer the most. Their bodies are more vulnerable to the impacts of living without fresh water, meals, or health care since they are young and developing. Extreme poverty and an absence of availability to sufficient, healthy meals are frequently associated with hunger and undernourishment. As a consequence, most children living in poverty are malnourished and infected with diseases. They cannot survive if they remain unattended, which is widespread owing to insufficient access to health care. Only about a third of children with acute malnutrition receive care, according to estimates.

Bullying

Bullying is described as exposing someone to the bad deeds of one or more other people repeatedly and over time. Abuse has an impact on the victims, the bullies, and even the individuals who witness the bullying. Although schools, agencies, and paediatricians can all help to reduce bullying and its impacts on a local level, the problem is social. Television and other multimedia presentations frequently demonstrate the use of aggression to fix issues. Several bullys’ parents believe it is acceptable for their children to understand how to fight in school and do not consider bullying to be a problem.

Conclusion

From the climate emergency to gun violence and the rising income divide, social justice plays a significant role in practically every significant crisis humanity confronts. The difference of experience among various social groupings has become a focal point for society’s collective lens. People are energised about important topics such as LGBTQ constitutional protections, female abuse, immigrant and indigenous folk’s rights, racial prejudice, and so on. Educators now have a unique chance to advocate for their individuals and communities, as well as to demand meaningful change.
